Since we find that the natural resources are
the vital thing required to sustain China’s ginormous population and ambitious
dreams, we put our effort in assessing China’s strategic quest for resources in
different continents worldwide throughout this whole semester. In one side, we
discussed her lust for raw materials in Africa, gold, soy, and oil in South
America, fossil fuels in Middle East, technology and infrastructure in Europe, rare
metal materials in Australia and natural gas in South China Sea. This brought
us wide range of angles in understanding China’s position and dynamic influence
in Global economy. On the other side, we examined China’s practices for
bringing good development policies to the Third World and her will to install vitality
in the world market, contrasting the exploitative practices enacted by
predominantly Western developed countries.
Our group specified the topic “China in
Africa” into”China’s quest for resources” which enable us to investigate centering
on the pattern of China’s global strategy. We looked up information in varies reliable
sources such as newspapers, comments, reports, blogs and journals and filter out
the most useful data to assist out analysis. After then, we gathered to talk
about those resources and incorporate our opinions in the blogs. Each one of us
did in-depth research first on their designated part and was responsible of
summarizing others’ additional views and finally type up into blog. Our project
ran fluently by this means which ensured everyone’s participation and
contribution to this group project.
Through this project, all my group members’
opinions refreshed my innate knowledge about China in Africa. Reflecting back, I
am surprised to know the sprawling power of China that continuously shapes the
world. I am impressed by China’s strategic presence in the world economy and politics.
Although it’s hard to judge its influence by simply right or wrong, she opened
up a new way in involving into the world affairs and reprogramming the existing
international system. All in all, I learned a lot from my group mates and fully
enjoyed our unified will and effort in finishing this big project.
