Final Blog Entry



Since we find that the natural resources are the vital thing required to sustain China’s ginormous population and ambitious dreams, we put our effort in assessing China’s strategic quest for resources in different continents worldwide throughout this whole semester. In one side, we discussed her lust for raw materials in Africa, gold, soy, and oil in South America, fossil fuels in Middle East, technology and infrastructure in Europe, rare metal materials in Australia and natural gas in South China Sea. This brought us wide range of angles in understanding China’s position and dynamic influence in Global economy. On the other side, we examined China’s practices for bringing good development policies to the Third World and her will to install vitality in the world market, contrasting the exploitative practices enacted by predominantly Western developed countries.

Our group specified the topic “China in Africa” into”China’s quest for resources” which enable us to investigate centering on the pattern of China’s global strategy. We looked up information in varies reliable sources such as newspapers, comments, reports, blogs and journals and filter out the most useful data to assist out analysis. After then, we gathered to talk about those resources and incorporate our opinions in the blogs. Each one of us did in-depth research first on their designated part and was responsible of summarizing others’ additional views and finally type up into blog. Our project ran fluently by this means which ensured everyone’s participation and contribution to this group project.

Through this project, all my group members’ opinions refreshed my innate knowledge about China in Africa. Reflecting back, I am surprised to know the sprawling power of China that continuously shapes the world. I am impressed by China’s strategic presence in the world economy and politics. Although it’s hard to judge its influence by simply right or wrong, she opened up a new way in involving into the world affairs and reprogramming the existing international system. All in all, I learned a lot from my group mates and fully enjoyed our unified will and effort in finishing this big project.
